Hey clever people, can you help me?
I have a bug.....I know, where do I get them all from...
It is a cold/flu type and started with shivering and then sweating.
All of that with the aching was nasty, but now....
Now I have such a bad head.
Wasted 3 triptans trying to shift it (can I deduct them from my monthly total? It apparently isnt migraine)
Taking OTC just about touching it, and I have nothing else.
I think it might be the congestion.
I a surely very "bunged up" as we say here.
BUT most of the pain is in back and into back of my neck.
Also keeps really kicking in my right side in front of ear and behind it.
Sharp, nasty, and not responding.
So, you erudite bunch.
Is this the bug? Is it congestion?
What can I do about it?
Am steaming. Tried decongestants.
No change....
Appreciate any help.
Mind this forum is dead this week so far.
Was it something I said????

Re: Hey clever people, can you help me?
Sounds like the congestion isn't helping. What type of decongestants have you tried? some people find the nasal sprays more effective than the tablets and vice versa, so if you've tried one maybe try the other?
Not sure about the back and neck pain though.

Re: Hey clever people, can you help me?
Ah, badly explained, sorry.
In back of my head. I get this quite a bit Nat.
Had a bout of it in the spring and steamed my little head off. It did eventually improve, and I put it down to congestion.
Also do get a lot of neck pain, usually in the right side.
This is there but also in the back of it, under the occipital. Just not sure how sinus congestion can trigger all of this.
When I woke on tuesday morning, I had a terrible pain all over my head. After a night of shivering and sweating.
Took a triptan, couldnt think what else to try. It did nothing. I had to call my husband to get me ice packs and pain killers.
They eventually helped enough for me to get up, but the pain never left. Same thing again yesterday, and another wasted triptan. This time it was more to one side, so thought it was migraine. But nope. Again, didnt work at all.
So now I am struggling through on the OTC, and taken Sudafed. Not much help. Using sprays as well, and steaming. My daughter brought me this bug, and hardly had a headache at all....
Thanks Nat...Glad someone is around on here. Sooooo quiet. Hope that is a good thing.

Hi Pen.
I am here and checking in via my phone, but I've not had much to say!
Sorry you are feeling rubbish.
Have you tried talking to the pharmacist at ur local chemist? My local ones are very helpful, saved me a lot of wasted time at the doctors.
If they are not any use, I'd ring your doctors surgery.

Have you tried a netti pot? I call them a snot pot. It's a small pot used to pour warm salt water through the sinuses. Sounds gross, but they actually help quite a bit.

Pen,
where you are saying about the spots where there is pain, could it be a flare-up of fibromyalgia?
Just a thought, as its where my fibro attacks start (in my neck and right shoulder blade) and its always triggered by some flu or cold.

Hi Annie,
I guess it could be a fibro flare. I have not had a cold or anything, but, I am very congested.
I am wondering if sinus congestion is pushing the migraines and causing this neck pain, which they say is a migraine symptom??
