Physical Triggers Empty Physical Triggers

Post by Admin Sun Apr 10, 2011 10:03 pm

Brief of necessity.

My migraines are then when I wake. I almost NEVER get one any other time.
I have no aura, no nausea, just pain, every morning.
End of story.

I also have pain, which is like migraine.
It is intense and goes from temple to neck.
It comes on because of things I do. Movement.
Not every time I move of course, but anything that causes tension (including stretching) I think in my neck.

My question is. If this is migraine and if the movement is a trigger, does anyone else have this please?
I am not at all convinced this is migraine. But I want to deal with it, and cant keep taking triptans which only do half a job on it.

Thanks.

Pen,
"genuine" migraine has specific symptoms that - as you say - include vertigo, nausea, throbbing pain.
It works mainly on a attack base: each attack has 3/4 phases i.e. prodrome, (aura), pain, postdrome.

Not each migraine sufferer experiences exactly the same symptoms and has the same phases, but you seem to have NONE of these specific and common features.

Maybe, you suffer from one of the worst tension headache situation, especially if you don't respond 10% to migraine drugs.

As far as I know, movement of the head itself is not a common trigger, but maybe there's someone else out there who's experienced also this one Smile Migraine is weird....

Thanks Anto, and this sort of overlaps your other post on Secondary headaches I just attempted to answer. Smile

It's true, I get none of the above, just pain, and very occasionally a bit of nausea (but this could be the triptan).

This is why I want to find out if there is a physical cause for some of my migraine. I get migraine pain and sensitivity to light and noise etc. I was diagnosed 20 years ago at City of London Migraine Clinic, but now I have extra pain and it does seem to be from physical.

I want then to pay more attention about my neck and also constant PND.

Triptans do work most of the time. But they never take it away and they dont work every time.

As you say, perhaps someone else has physical triggers.
I am seeing the GP tomorrow so I hope I get some other replies.
